This work was created as part of a joint exhibition with the artist’s mother, Bila Berg, who presented paintings. The installation represents the home of the artist’s grandmother, a bereaved mother and Holocaust survivor. It consists of a floor installation and a collection of objects -“findings”-that echo the grandmother’s jar collection and archaeological artifacts from the Second Temple period.

The act of reconstruction, present both in the home and in archaeological practice, seeks to stitch history together—partly as truth, partly as fiction.

Parts of the installation changed and decayed over the course of the exhibition. The liquids in the hole, the molten sugar in the chandelier that melted and colored the tiles as well as the sugar and ancient pottery object that gradually cracked, melted and broke.
